During the early 1900s Nate Levy owned and operated a corner store just east of the park. He cared tremendously for his neighborhood and actively lobbied City Hall for improvements. In recognition of Levy’s dedication to his neighborhood, Nate Levy-Jaycee Park opened in 1983 with a combined effort by the East Bayfront Neighborhood Watch, the Bayfront Eastside Taskforce and the City of Erie.
