When a group of Erieites tired of traveling to the Barcelona Yacht Club in Barcelona, New York, they created a new club closer to home - the Commodore Perry Yacht Club. After existing as a social club for its first few years, the group signed a long-term lease with the Erie-Western PA Port Authority for waterfront property located at the foot of Poplar Street and built break walls and docks. The facility that you see today is the result of thirty years worth of work performed by the Club’s own members.
